Job Description Summary

Position Objective:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer brings innovation and originality into the design of new products and into the redesign of existing products. This individual is able to develop creative solutions to real world HVAC challenges and carry those ideas into production while ensuring that consideration has been given to quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost. The candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to lead both minor and major projects successfully, even under aggressive production schedules. The Senior Mechanical Engineer also leads special design projects and teams of engineers and designers in large-scale projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working with little or no supervision, designs safe, technically sound projects that meet design requirements Input may include sketches, information on order input forms, design project requests, engineering change orders, or written and verbal instructions from the engineers
  • Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the design process and is able to coordinate the informed selection of raw materials and purchased parts used on projects utilizing a high degree of latitude in judgment
  • Guides projects, effectively and in a timely manner, from inception through completion while always considering the drive for quality, ease of manufacture, functionality, serviceability, and cost
  • Accurately prepares drawings (including layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings, assembly sequences, and purchased parts) or revises drawings as required to meet engineering, manufacturing, and process changes using current design methods
  • Accurately prepares engineering documentation for the loading of engineering and manufacturing data base and fabrication of parts
  • Completes special design assignments or projects in a timely manner with little or no engineering guidance
  • Trains team members on technical knowledge associated with assignments and products
  • Prepares drawings and data for service bulletins, service manuals, parts lists, and product specifications
  • Assigns, directs, and/or checks the work of other engineers for accuracy, manufacturing practices and conformance to engineering systems
  • Prepares project hour estimates and schedules assigned duties for projects
  • Communicates with and/or travel to factories, outside vendors, or job sites to resolve manufacturing questions and/or production problems
  • Takes point on safety certification programs (ETL/UL) with new products, updates engineering on existing standards, implements quarterly inspections, and maintains hi-pot testing records stickers
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus 5+ years of experience in the HVAC Manufacturing field
  • Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD and CAM programs and Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in Inventor or equivalent
  • Demonstrates excellent mechanical, mathematical, and technical skills and abstract thinking and reasoning skills
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and systems, engineering systems, and product coding
  • Strong background with electro-mechanical controls
  • Proficient using CAD to design HVAC units and sheet metal and able to produce production-ready drawings
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems for HVAC equipment

Preferred

•           Professional Engineering (PE) license

Base Pay Range: $100,143.00 - 137,696.90
